About Us

Welcome to our school!

Louise C. Perkins Middle School has been in operation since its doors first opened in 1987 under the direction of Principal Hector Hernandez and is named in honor of Louise C. Perkins, a 41 year veteran educator of public education in Brownsville.

Perkins Middle School offers differentiated curricula which meets the needs of a heterogeneous student population and insures students are prepared to pursue a post secondary education. Traditional, Pre-AP, and GT courses are available, as well as Algebra I and Spanish advanced placement courses. In addition, extra curricular activities such as Band, Choir, Cheerleading, Chess, One Act Play, National Junior Honor Society, Ballroom Dancing, Library Club, Brainsville Inventions, and Athletics are offered.

Our students are recognized for excelling in the following areas: District Spelling Bee Championship, Region 28 All Valley Band and Jazz Band, City Math Meet, State Regional History Fair, State Recognized Duke University TIP, and 100% of Algebra students passed their Pre-AP exams.

Our teachers, students and parents continue to work hand in hand to make sure our students achieve their academic potential. We are proud of all the accomplishments and goals met this school year, but most of all we are proud to have students with the drive and determination to succeed in their educational endeavors.
